The iconic swing-winged aircraft that dominated the US Navy throughout the '70s and '80s, the F-14, is universally recognized, catapulted to household fame by Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer's blockbuster movie "Top Gun." Positioned as the successor to the F4 and a replacement for the F-111 Grumman development, the Navy procured 556 of these remarkable planes. Notably, the Iranian government secured 80 units before the fall of the democratic regime, with 79 successfully delivered to Iran. Today, Iran remains the sole operational hub for the Tomcat, showcasing the enduring legacy of this legendary aircraft.
